The greenhouse

The greenhouse sits in the middle of the connected city, under the cloud. It is the quiet place in the room, with a bench to sit on.

But it’s never quite still. Every time someone rides the slide, feeds the scrap monster or spins the house, the cloud flashes and the greenhouse answers.

• The light is WLED, driven by our own switchboard: a Python service that listens to every installation in the room over MQTT and decides what lights up, when and in what colour.
• The greenhouse flashes together with the cloud, in the colour of whatever set it off.
• Some things only flash once per visit, so a kid who rides the slide ten times doesn’t take over the room.
